A Journey of One Inch

A Spiritual Journey

And the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles,

no matter how long,

but only by a spiritual journey,

a journey of one inch,

very arduous and humbling and joyful,

by which we arrive at the ground at our feet,

and learn to be at home.

Hi Meredith,
We need to be patient with ourselves, working on our spiritual path one step at a time like you said... Nice blog. Namaste. Bernadete

I like this. Reminds me of what Leo posted on Zen Habits recently, about how the only way to change your life is through daily actions.

Thank you with all my heart for this post. I am up late, not feeling even remotely peaceful, with my housing and financial situation a complete mess for reasons out of my control. The reminder to be at home where I am is exactly what I needed to hear tonight!

"arduous and humbling and joyful" may be a good description of what the journey is like ... but it is not a description of what we must bring along on the journey. May be we need to remember to make the journey "with love, with patience, and with faith" [nice reminder these words from Wonder by Nat Merchant]
