Falling in Love

Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your evenings, how you will spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.

Attributed to Pedro Arrupe, S.J. (1907-1991)

I like this a lot. It points out to me how I have let my love grow cold. My love is in need of being rekindled.

M-

This says it all...with such clarity and wisdom. Perhaps Pedro Arrupe has written no clearer than anyone else before or since on "Love".

Thank you for the gem-

Excellent quote. I just might borrow it for the quotes at the top of my site next time I change them.

In a complex, relative, non-spiritual culture and world, it's easy to forget the simple reason for absolutes. not dogma, but a spiritual goal, which feeds all hours and days with selfles purity and direction. Thank you for the reminder...

He said it like it was/is for me; it's my life history-- since 1956.
I sometimes fear that Ellie loves me best, but I love God best. It's the only way I could learn to love anybody.
